Job summary

Grange Park Surgery are looking for a motivated, friendly, proactive medical receptionist to join our lovely team. The successful candidate will be part of a friendly supportive reception team. They will be the first point of contact for our patients and will be required to meet the standards of care and service we pride ourselves on. We are looking for someone who will be flexible and reliable and is self-motivated, to compliment our experienced and dedicated team. Duties will include dealing with patients by telephone and face to face, projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors to the practice. Previous experience of working in General Practice would be a distinct advantage, however full training will be given. The job will require provision of high quality reception services to patients, doctors, colleagues and others. It includes multi-tasking, with the ability to be compassionate. Good communication skills are essential to this role.

Main duties of the job

Provide reception duties including, but not limited to:

• Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients
• Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
• Ensure those patients without appointments but who need urgent consultations are booked into appropriate slots and referred to a GP where necessary.
• Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail
• Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
• Work safely at all times in accordance with Legislative requirements and Practice Policy and Procedures
• Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post
• Respond and/or redirect all patient and visitor requests accordingly.
• Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and temporary residents
• Ensure correspondence are dealt with and distributed in a correct and timely manner.
• Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy
• Check and action task messages on a daily basis.
• Provide holiday/sick cover
• Comply with Data Protection & GDPR.
• Use of Systmone clinical system
