During the Christmas and New Year period pharmacies may be closed. You can check on the NHS website which of your local pharmacies will be opening during this time.
The Pharmacy First service enables patients to directly access (walk-in) to a community pharmacy providing Pharmacy First to receive advice, and where appropriate treatment for the following conditions:
- Sinusitis (for those aged 12 years and over)
- Sore throat (for those aged 5 years and over)
- Earache (for those aged between 1 and 17 years old)
- Infected insect bite (for those aged 1 year and over)
- Impetigo (for those aged 1 year and over)
- Shingles (for those aged over 18 years old
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) (for women aged 16-64)
If patients are not within these age ranges, a pharmacist can still offer advice and support decisions about self-care treatment with over-the-counter medicines (note this is outside of the Pharmacy First Service).
